Monday, September 1st 2008, 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Minneapolis MN:  10th annual Minnehaha Falls Laughing Waters Bluegrass Festival, Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis (4801 Minnehaha Ave).  A community sponsored free admission public outdoor bluegrass music festival featuring The Middle Spunk Creek Boys, The Becky Schlegel Band, The Platte Valley Boys, Tangled Roots, Ivory Bridge, Free Range Pickin', and Nuvo Buffalo. Saturday, September 6th 2008, 3-7 PM, Lake Elmo MN: Washington County 7th Annual Bluegrass Festival, Lake Elmo Park Reserve (1515 Keats Ave N). Come out to Lake Elmo Park Reserve for live music from Sans Souci Quartet, Sawtooth Bluegrass Band, Charlie Parr with the Black Twig Pickers, and Nuvo Buffalo. There will also be family events including exhibits, food vendors, and camping. The festival is free with a vehicle permit ($5/day $25/year). Monday, September 15th 2008, 7:30 PM, Minneapolis MN: Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quintet, Guthrie Theater (818 S 2nd St). The Sparrow Quartet featuring Abigail Washburn, Bela Fleck, Casey Driessen and Ben Sollee are known for their mixture of old-time music with Chinese lyrics and melodies. Saturday, September 27th 2008, 3:00 PM & 6:30 PM, Lakeville MN:  Second Annual Bluegrass Celebration, Celebration Event Center (16655 Kenyon Ave). An annual bluegrass gospel festival, this year featuring Marty Raybon, The Johnson Family, and The Platte Valley Boys. There will be two shows, one from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and the second from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Dinner will be available on the grounds. $20 for one show or $30 for both. Saturday November 1st 2008, 7:30 PM, St Michael MN: Historic Church of St Michael Concert Series: Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike Featuring Becky Buller, Church of St Michael (22 North Main St). Valerie Smith has become an ambassador of bluegrass music and Liberty Pike is an amazingly talented band and features Becky Buller, a multi-instrumentalist and incredible songwriter from St James MN. Don't miss the very best of bluegrass all the way from Nashville TN. Tickets in advance are adults $15 and seniors and children $13. Tickets at the door are $17 and $15.
